This serving plate is carved one at a time from Albizia Saman wood, giving it a shallow dish form with gently smoothed edges and an asymmetric, pebble-like outline. The surface arrives untreated and open-grained, ready to be finished with a food-safe oil of your choice. Because every plate is carved individually, the grain pattern, warm tone, and exact silhouette are unique to each piece. It works well on a dining table, kitchen counter, or an open shelf where the shape can be appreciated between uses.
Made from Albizia Saman wood with a warm tan tone, visible linear grain streaks ranging from pale blonde to soft rose-brown, and a low-sheen matte surface. The plate is sold untreated and open-grained so you can condition it with a light food-safe oil. The wood grows richer in tone with each oiling over time. The plate has an organic, asymmetric silhouette, wider and more rounded at the base, tapering gently toward the top, with a flat serving surface and a low curved rim around the perimeter. Size is Large; because each piece is individually hand-carved, exact dimensions vary naturally between pieces. Each plate is carved individually, so the grain pattern, tone, and silhouette vary from piece to piece. No two read quite the same. The plate is made from wood sourced in Jashore, Bangladesh.
