Start with the space, not the size on the label.

Measure the clear width of the door, window, or wall where the wreath will hang. Include handles, glass panels, and nearby trim. Leave some of the surrounding surface visible so the wreath feels framed.

Check the full finished shape.

Compare the product’s outer dimensions with your measurements. A loose, natural-looking wreath may extend beyond its central ring. Use painter’s tape to mark the proposed footprint before choosing.

Give the ribbon somewhere to go.

Allow space beneath the wreath if you want long ribbon tails. Test the placement with the door both open and closed, and keep the handle and lock clear.

Hang it for the setting.

Follow the product’s indoor or outdoor guidance. Choose a hanger suited to the door material and the wreath’s weight, and follow its installation instructions.

Measure the route.

Lay a flexible tape along the path you want the garland to follow. Include any dip across the front and the length that will fall down either side. The mantel’s straight width is only the starting point.

Choose a little asymmetry.

Let one side fall longer, or group your smaller accents to one side. Keep enough open surface for the materials and shapes to read clearly.

Build in layers.

Place the greenery first, add ribbon next, then bring in a few larger accents. Step back between each layer rather than filling every gap.

Finish with a little glow.

Keep greenery and ribbon clear of heat and open flames. Flameless candles are a useful option for an arrangement where the pieces sit close together. Follow fireplace and décor instructions before styling a working hearth.

Deck the halls. Make them yours.
