These dinner napkins are woven from Belgian flax linen and stone-washed until the weave fully relaxes, so they arrive soft rather than stiff. The fabric has a gentle slub texture with a matte finish and drapes loosely in natural folds. At 20 by 20 inches square with finished edges, they hold up wash after wash without fraying or losing their shape.
The stone-washing process relaxes the linen weave before the napkins ever reach your table. There is no stiff break-in period. The fabric softens a little more with each wash, and colors are calibrated to carry through every season without losing their tone. A slight slub in the yarn gives the surface quiet visual interest without being showy. Because these are small-batch napkins woven in southwest India from Belgian flax, subtle variation in shade and weave character from one napkin to the next is expected and part of what the cloth is.
